Karen Nern, MD

Dr. Karen Nern is a Colorado native. She is a Board Certified Dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon. She has expertise in general and pediatric dermatology. She performs Mohs micrographic surgery, and has extensive experience treating both benign and malignant skin growths. She also performs many cosmetic procedures, including Botox®, Juvederm™, Voluma™,  Kybella™, and chemical peels. As of December 2015, Dr. Karen Nern has transitioned her personal practice to surgery and cosmetic procedures only.

Kelly Morrissey Williams, MD

Originally from Rockville, Maryland, Dr. Kelly Morrissey Williams graduated with honors from Harvard University, where she was awarded the Detur Prize and the John Harvard Scholarship for Academic Achievement. She attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio where she pursed dermatologic research and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. During college and medical school, she received three National Institutes of Health Summer Research Fellowships. After completing an internship at Summa Akron City Hospital in Ohio, Kelly completed a combined dermatology residency and cutaneous oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. She was an Assistant Professor in Dermatology at the University of Colorado from July 2013 until June 2014 before pursing a fellowship in dermatopathology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Williams  primary research interest is skin cancer detection and prevention.

She is an avid skier and hiker. She is excited to be able to live in the Vail Valley year round and join the active community here. Dr. Morrissey Williams and husband Mark welcomed their first child last August.

Drew Taylor, MD

Dr. Taylor was born and raised in Naples, Florida. A graduate of the University of Florida, he completed his dermatology residency training in 2016 at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he served as Chief Resident. Following residency, he pursued a demanding dual fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery/Dermatologic Oncology and Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery and was recognized for his exceptional clinical and procedural skills. Dr. Taylor is passionate about patient advocacy, skin cancer prevention, positively impacting patients’ body image and self-esteem, and contributing to the field of dermatology. He takes pride in helping his patients feel more beautiful, confident, youthful and self-assured.

Dr. Taylor has received numerous awards throughout his training and has authored several scientific papers and book chapters in general and procedural dermatology. Dr. Taylor is a fellowship trained Mohs Surgeon having performed thousands of cases along with their advanced reconstruction. He also specializes in facial rejuvenation including cosmetic laser technology, botox, fillers, platelet-rich plasma, sclerotherapy, blepharoplasty, and tumescent liposuction. His training in reconstructive and cosmetic dermatologic surgery allows him to create excellent, individually tailored results while harnessing the full potential of the rapidly evolving, innovative technology in the field of aesthetics.

In his free time, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs. He is passionate about family, delicious food, traveling the world, the outdoors and competing in CrossFit. He and his wife are eager to establish roots in the Roaring Fork Valley and build strong community ties.

Winslow Blankenship, MD

Originally from Maysville, Kentucky, Dr. D. Winslow Blankenship grew up as the third generation in her family to visit the Vail Valley for annual ski vacations.  Dr. Blankenship earned a degree in Spanish and Chemistry at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She then spent the following years in Washington, DC where she attended Georgetown University School of Medicine.  She remained in DC for her medical internship and dermatology residency, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year.  As a resident, she was also recognized for her passion for teaching as she was nominated for the prestigious “String of Pearls” medical student teaching award.

Dr. Blankenship is passionate skin cancer awareness, early detection and treatment.  She also performs cosmetic procedures including Botox®, chemical peels, and filler for facial rejuvenation. She particularly enjoys that practicing dermatology allows her to care both pediatric and adult patients and finds great reward in the management of acne and other medical dermatologic conditions.

Dr. Blankenship and her husband, Ross, are excited to be Colorado residents and raise their two daughters here in the Valley.  They will be fourth generation Vail skiers!

Sarah Youngblood PA-C, is an experienced dermatology physician assistant and has practiced with Vail and Aspen Dermatology for 9 years. She provides comprehensive medical and dermatologic care for adults and pediatrics including skin cancer screen exams, rashes, acne, biopsies and treating other skin disorder. She performs excisions, treats both benign and malignant skin growths  and performs cosmetic procedure such as Botox. Sarah values patient education and enjoys counseling her patients about their skin. She enjoys her kids, hiking, and traveling.

Kirsten Kuhn, PA-C

Kirsten Kuhn is a certified PA now accepting patients at our Breckenridge location.

Kirsten strives to provide high-quality dermatologic care to patients of all ages. She is passionate about preventing and detecting skin cancer, and enjoys helping people look their best and learn to protect their skin. Kirsten earned her PA degree from the School of Medicine at OHSU in Portland. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked along side Dr. Nern as a Medical Assistant for 2 years and is thrilled to return to the mountains as a member of the Vail | Aspen | Breckenridge Dermatology team. In her free time, Kirsten enjoys skiing, cycling, and trail running.

    Claire Mann, RN, BSN, MSN

    Claire Mann, RN, BSN, MSN is an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in Dermatology and wound care.  She is an experienced cosmetic injector and has trained with Dr. Karen Nern to gain expertise in cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Juvederm, Kybella and Thermiva. She is enrolled at the University of Colorado in the Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner program and is expected to complete the program Winter of 2017 at which time she will see general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology patients. Claire values patient satisfaction and wants to ensure that every patient feels well taken care of. She enjoys all the activities that Colorado has to offer.
